Quonset hut topics explored

Quonset huts are versatile structures, they are durable, portable, able to be tailored to your needs and much less expensive then more traditional building styles. The way that the metal is manufactured makes it lightweight and able to bend. Quonset huts were engineered for the United States Army during World War Two because the army needed a structure that was easy to move, easy to construct, it proved to be adaptable to any conditions that the army needed it to withstand. While Quonset huts mainly served as a barracks for troops and army personnel, these buildings also fit the needs of the army medicinal staff, the mechanics, librarians and postal workers on the military sites. In the post war years that required emergency housing the huts served new needs for new situations and were admired by some in the architecture community for simplicity and effectiveness.
