Quonset hut, a primer

As it is said that necessity is the mother of all inventions, the need of such a multipurpose and durable structure was felt during the Second World War was by the USA naval forces. The apparent utility lied in the ability of easy transport from the place of manufacture to the place of erection and assembly at the preferred location. To add on to the quality of hassle free erection it could be put to any use since it absolutely resisted any austerity of weather including rains, hail, snowfall etc. The applicability of these qualities of Quonset huts could not be ignored by the general public and soon they were used to erect warehouses, stores, shops, garages and even hangars. Quonset huts are inexpensive as compared to traditional construction and take less time to build.
